Is it worth to be a romantic?

An essay about the dead poets society

What is freedom of thinking?

What is love?

What makes you feel alive?

What’s your gold in this life?

Is really there something waiting for you?

These questions keep popping up on my head and they come and go every day of my life and as they keep coming, I keep trying to find an answer to them… but there doesn’t seem to be a logical one. In the end, I started thinking that there’s no need to answer these questions, because if I did, then what would I worry about?… and if I had nothing to worry about, what would I be living for?

I think that what I’m trying to say is that these questions or at least the quest to find some answers to them is the life itself.

In the mean time, all we can do is to “seize the day” as J. Keating said “CARPE DIEM”

I dare to say that the dead poets’ society is the perfect picture of a real life… or at least how a real life should be from my point of view.

The permanent struggle within the realism that embraces us and keeps us away from our dreams and the romanticism that pushes us towards greater realizations. We don’t dare to dream any more… and why?? You may wonder… well my dear friend.. The answer is as simple as scary. We don’t dream anymore because we’ve been castrated, because since the moment we were born, we’ve been told how to live, what to do and what not to do. There’s already a plan for you and there are some things you can desire and some other stuff that you shouldn’t even dream about because they are completely out of your reach.

After all this sad analysis I ask myself some other questions…

Is this world worth to live in?

Does this life have meaning other than just passing by?

Why care about things… when everything seems so shallow…

Here’s the answer…

We are all looking for our own dead poets society… we want to fit in a group that accepts us for what we are and not for what we have. We want to be surrounded by people who understand us and care about the same things that we do. We need to share our time, our talents, our hopes and dreams with people who really appreciate them.

We are all looking for a John Keating… Someone who awakes us from our morbid and constant sleepiness.. We need someone who can give us a life changing experience, a master, a leader, a guide. But they’re extremely hard to find… and last but not least…

We are all looking for love… and we’re so afraid to go after it when we believe we’ve finally found it that most times we just lost it before we get it… isn’t that sad? Oh yes it is… and not only sad it’s also true… Ohh if we only learn how to “Suck the marrow out of life” maybe we could b happy in this antagonist world we live in.

hola,
